This is my first blog. Its strange but today I went sailing - for the very first time. The experience was such that I wanted to share it with the others and hence the blog.
To begin with, I am extremely thankful to the brilliant skipper of my yacht - Abhishek, who is one guy who seemed to respect that even women understand directions pretty well and they do have a good judgement. And that was indeed encouraging. Secondly - Zia and Shakeel, the brains behind the 'Sail for Peace'. They were really cool. If not for them I wouldn't have got onto a yacht and would have never known what is sailing like.
For those of you who drive, remember how it feels when you sit behind the steering for the first time and know that you are going to make the machine run? I am experiencing the same kind of exhiliration, it is like - I have achieved something....the feeling is great as I did move something that made the yacht go in the right direction. And my skipper was kind enough to surreptiously direact the boat in a safe zone if I strayed too much. Neverthelsee it was fun.
A company named Aquasail has been taking Mumbaites aroud their yachts and teaching them the basics and in return you are expected to help those low rank officers who lost their lives in 26/11 attacks. Isn't that a cool idea.
